Reading Haman’s 10 sons in one go – Ask the Rabbi

    Q. Why does the reader list Haman’s sons without taking a breath?

    A. Several answers:
    1. They were all as one in their wickedness.
    2. They all died at the same moment.
    3. We do not want to gloat over their fate even though they were evil, so we recite their names quickly.

There is a custom for the reader to pause before reading the names to allow the congregation to recite the list first.
