Kashrut: Does God really care? – Ask the Rabbi

    Q. All this fuss about kashrut! How can God be interested in pots and pans?

    A. God is interested in truth and justice too, and in right and wrong. But why should He be concerned only with big things such as these, and not with smaller ones like milk and meat?

Concern for pots and pans (one writer calls it pot-and-pantheism) bring God and Judaism into the most commonplace of daily activities. It teaches us to be careful in all we do, to discipline ourselves, to hallow the home as we hallow the synagogue.

Keeping kosher helps to make a person and home Jewish. More Jews should try it!
