    Weighty mourning – Vayyechi

After Jacob died, “they mourned with very great and heavy mourning” – misped gadol v’kaved m’od (Gen. 50:10).

We wonder why there are two adjectives, “great’ and “heavy”.

The answer may be that if mourning is great, it has to be heavy. It has to be weighty enough to be worthy of the person who has died.
